The US India Chamber of Commerce Dallas/Fort Worth and the University of Texas Dallas welcomed the new Indian Consul General Aseem Mahajan to a private dinner on March 3, 2020 at UT Dallas campus. Mahajan began his tenure at the Consulate General of India office in Houston in January 2020.
Over 100 guests, from 30 local Indian organizations, gathered to welcome Mahajan and to learn about the Consul General’s strategic vision for Dallas. In his remarks, Mahajan spoke about the importance of the Dallas business community to the consulate. He stressed that the Consul General’s office is a rich resource for the Indian diaspora in Dallas and he is eager to promote trade between Texas and India and to partner with Indian cultural and religious organizations.
During the event, the US India Chamber of Commerce DFW’s founding chairman A.K. Mago was honored for establishing an endowed professorship at University of Texas Dallas. Considered the highest academic honor a university can bestow, endowments provide senior-level faculty with funds to advance their scholarship and support research. The new endowed professorship will be named the Ashok and Monica Mago distinguished professorship in operations management.
