NAMASTE, had never had any more significance than now, in this Coronavirus stricken world, especially when the President of US is practicing it., And the Hand shake could be one of the things we can avoid, and one of the steps to do and stop spreading the Virus. (A Simple step for an individual but a Major step for humankind– World wide).
Namaste is usually spoken with a slight bow and hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest.
This gesture is called Añjali Mudrā or Pranamasana. In Hinduism, it means “I bow to the divine in you”.
What does it mean to say Namaste?
The literal translation of the word “Namaste” breaks down into three sections…Nama means bow; as means I; and, te means you. Thus, I bow to you.
The gesture is one of greeting in India. Most often we hold our hands together in the prayer position at our heart chakra.
All the more namaste in the yogic way relieves the stress and anxiety and helps in getting flexibility to wrists, fingers, arms and hands.
( I still do this on a daily basis)
What is the true meaning of Namaste?
Religious and secular culture come together in the increasing use of namaste (pronounced \NAH-muh-stay) in English: the term is associated with both Hinduism and yoga. The word comes from Sanskrit and literally means “bowing to you” or “I bow to you,” and is used as a greeting.
